Why sleep with a pillow between your legs

If you sleep predominantly on your side consider the technique of sleeping with a pillow between your legs.

A pillow placed between your knees will align your pelvis and spine so there is no point of pressure.

If you are waking up with a sore back or neck this can be caused by your body being twisted when you sleep. By keeping your pelvis and hips aligned and your neck in a natural position (not kinked) you may avoid sore necks and backs.
Physiotherapist Sally Buratowski recommends sleeping with a pillow between your legs.
Sally will from time to time use postural taping on clients.

This taping will often highlight areas that are out of alignment in day to day activity.

Recently a client complained about neck and shoulder pain. The physiotherapy and pilates relieved the pain – however it was not until the client followed Sally’s technique of sleeping that the pain stopped occuring.

Fortunately Sally was able to identify the main root cause of a problem – by participating in ongoing PhysioFusion sessions rather than just say an appointment to treat a problem once it’s chronic the problem can be prevented.
